As spring rolls around, so does the Robotics season! Throughout the year, Servite and Rosary students on Team 3309 have been collaborating to make it the best year possible.
Members meet six to seven days a week until the third week of February when their build season ends. Every day, they work for about five hours testing different concepts and trying new things. This year, their task is to develop a robot for the annual game. The robot is intended to pick up and shoot out discs!
Senior Jesslyn Abobo explains the team’s goals as she states, “If we win any of our competitions, we have the possibility of making it to the world championship in Houston! I am very excited to see where our dedication and hard work takes us.”
Since Worlds is a very big deal for these Royals and Friars, it is important that they produce the best prototypes possible that are within the competition requirements. While they would like to see themselves succeed, they also want to see others do well too. Servite Senior Aidan Long explains, “We have also worked on building the field elements for this year’s game so that other teams may use our full size practice field to test their robots.”
As the third week of February draws near, it is important to show our support for this hardworking team. Their first competition is from Feb. 2 to March 1 in Orange County. While the rest are out of state, let’s all do our best to celebrate these incredible Royal and Friars!
