This past Friday, Trinitas’ Troupe 4566 played against our Comedy Sportz team. It was a fundraising match; originally, the proceeds were for our theatre program, but we all came up with idea to have all the proceeds from the match donated to a Humane Shelter that is helping all the animals and pets that were affected by the recent fires in LA.
In this special Comedy Sportz match, the Thespian Board got to show off their improv skills, have fun creating scenes and play different games. It may sound hard to believe, but it was some of the board’s first time playing in it. All of them killed it and were amazing!
As Comedy Sportz Co-Assistant Manager, I got to be the captain for the first half of red team. With being a captain, I tried my best and led my team in playing the games and providing support. For myself, it was an overall fun and great learning experience. Being in Comedy Sportz helped my speaking and communication skills along with helping my confidence.
Playing against the Thespian Board included Natalie Dampf ’27. She shared her experience during the match and all the fun she had: “Playing against the Thespian Board was so much fun! I loved playing different games with my team and bonding with them, I am also so excited to see the seniors that graduated last year and play against them for the first time!”
Senior Ashley Hawley said, “I had the time of my life playing in the comedy sports match! It was so much fun getting makeup random thoughts, stories and jokes. My favorite game to play was ‘town hall’ where I got to make up a character with a backstory and debated why we shouldn’t ban marshmallows.”
Overall, the match was filled with laughs and catchy games, so make sure to come and support our Alumni Match which will be next Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. During this match, alumni from both Rosary and Servite will come back in a match that you will not want to miss!
Some students who are most likely returning include Mia Kennedy ’24, Donnie Sarabia ’24, Mandy Puga ’24 and Matthew Ghebrial ’24! Make sure to come out and support!
