This year’s Golden Globes was one for the books. With many amazing films and tv shows being released this past year, it was hard to anticipate who would take the prize. Take a look below to see this year’s 2025 Golden Globe winners!
Films:
In the film category, many awards were given out, including Best Drama Motion Picture, Best Musical or Comedy Motion Picture, Best Original Song for a Motion Picture, Best Screenplay of a Motion Picture, Best Actor or Actress in a Drama Motion Picture and more.
Many great films were nominated for the Best Drama Motion Picture award, although “The Brutalist” starring Adrien Brody won. Brody also won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama for “The Brutalist.” He beat out Timothee Chalamet in “The Complete Unknown,” angering many teenage girls across America and parts of France.
Brady Cobert won for Best Director of a Motion Picture in “The Brutalist,” allowing that film to sweep three major awards. “Emilia Perez” starring Zoe Saldana won for Best Comedy or Musical Motion Picture and for Best Non-English Language Motion Picture.
The Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama went to Fernanda Torres for “I’m Still Here.” Making many Zendaya fans happy, the film “Challengers” won for best original score in a motion picture. It also won in our hearts for best love triangle and biggest mic-drop.
Many amazing films such as “Inside Out 2,” “Deadpool and Wolverine,” “Twisters,” and “Beetlejuice” were nominees for cinematic and box office achievement awards. But “Wicked,” the musical starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, ultimately won.
TV Series:
The series “Shogun” beat out “Squid Games” and many other TV series to win the Best Drama Television Series award.
The show “Baby Reindeer” on Netflix won for best TV limited series. Jeremey Allen White stepped away from the Calvin Klein commercials to secure the Best Performance by an Actor for a Television Series for “The Bear.”
Colin Farrell won for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series in “The Penguin,” making many comic book fans and cartoon watchers happy.
Stand-up comedy’s best TV award went to Ali Wong for “Single Lady.” Wong beat out many high-profile comedians like Nikki Glaser, Jamie Foxx and even Adam Sandler.
Junior Sofia Velasco comments on Golden Globes host Nikki Glasier: “I think the host was really did a good job and everyone’s outfits were gorgeous. Also, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester are goals.”
Jaclyn Gonzalez ’26 also commented on this year’s host, saying, “I liked her; she was really funny.”
The Best Musical or Comedy TV Series went to “Hacks,” beating out shows like “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Nobody Wants This” and many others.
