As the winter sports season begins, the water polo team has been putting in a ton of work preparing for their upcoming season. Moroever, ready to defend their CIF Championship Title, let’s take a look at what the water polo team has been up to before league starts in January.
In November, the 2023-2024 team received their Division Four CIF Championship rings from last season’s success. On receiving her championship ring, Avery Rabago ’25 stated, “It was an honor to receive my championship ring! I hope that all our preparation during pre-season can earn us another one.”
Off to a good start, the Varsity water polo team took home the trophy in the Platinum Division at the Varsity Warriors Holiday Tournament this past weekend. Sam Wright ’26 expressed her feelings on the tournament: “For our first tournament, I think our team played pretty well together. It was nice to get together with the team again and accomplish another win together!”
Even in the offseason, their water polo team has had many practices in the mornings and afternoons. Junior Kaydence Ruiz shared her thoughts on the new season stating, “I am just excited to play. I have been out with an injury for a while so I am excited to be back in the pool. I am also looking forward to seeing how this season goes.”
Make sure to come out and support the water polo team at their next tournament at Corona High School on Friday, Dec. 20. Their first league game is on Jan. 7 at Laguna Beach High School. Good luck water polo!
