With the soccer season in full swing and Red & Gold around the corner, I decided to interview my good friend, Ava Barretto ’25, a midfielder on the Rosary Soccer Team and a 2025 Red & Gold Producer!
Q: How long have you been playing soccer and what has it been like throughout the years?
A: I have been playing soccer for 13 years. Throughout the years, the journey to get where I am now as a player has been challenging but also very rewarding.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Rosary Soccer?
A: My favorite memory from being on the Rosary Soccer Team would have to be my sophomore year when I scored on my sister’s Senior Night.
Q: What are your hobbies outside of school?
A: My hobbies outside of school include baking, hanging out with friends and family, sleeping and eating.
Q: What has been your favorite class throughout your years here at Rosary?
A: My favorite class would be Mystery in Fiction/Literature in Film during my junior year with Mrs. Langenwalter. This class was so much fun and held so many memories that made me closer to some seniors who graduated in May.
Q: What are you most excited about when it comes to being a Red & Gold Producer this year?
A: This year, as a Red & Gold Producer, I am looking forward to bringing the show together with the whole team and being in the moment at Flex every day. Red & Gold is something so exciting to me, and I can’t wait for performance weekend because every year means so much!
Q: What is your favorite Red & Gold memory?
A: My favorite Red & Gold memory was the moment Gold won my junior year when I was Co-Producer. The feeling is unlike any other seeing the gold confetti come out, and it is something I will never forget. It was so satisfying knowing everyone’s hard work paid off in the end.
Q: If you could give your freshman self any advice, what would it be?
A: Advice I would give to my freshman self would be to trust the process and to believe in yourself because, in the end, it gets better. My freshman self wouldn’t believe how life is now as a senior.
Q: Where do you plan on going to college, and what do you want to major in?
A: I’m unsure at the moment, but I am hoping to go to Loyola Marymount University, University of San Diego or UC Davis. Depending on where I decide to attend, I plan on majoring in criminology or in interior design.
Good luck this season, Ava, and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future!
