Hello, Royals! I hope you took this Thanksgiving break as an opportunity to destress and take some time to spend time with loved ones. As you may know, finals are in a couple weeks which means that now it’s time to hunker down and start studying. However, before you do so, here are some tips to prepare for your upcoming exams!
1. Set up a study plan.
Things can seem overwhelming when you don’t have a plan. If you don’t already know what the format for your finals are, I would recommend finding out soon so that you can make a plan based on what’s going to be on the final. Typically, I try to dedicate a day to each subject so that I don’t get overwhelmed or confused trying to study all my subjects at once. Setting up a study plan can set you on the right track for success!
2. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
My freshman year, I was afraid to ask questions about what was on the final. Because of this, I overly stressed myself out by trying to answer my own questions that I had about the final. Most likely, if you ask your teacher a question, they will try to help you out to the best of their ability; don’t hesitate, even if you feel that your question is something you should know.
3. Find time to relax.
It can be hard to find time to relax during this very busy season but it’s important to remember that while it’s finals season, it’s also Christmas season. Try to take time these next few weeks to hang out with friends and family. As much as it’s tempting to miss out on events to stay in and study, try and manage your time so that you don’t have to miss out on special events.
4. Remember: it’s not the end of the world.
Don’t let this one exam discredit all the work you’ve put in the entire semester. Fifteen percent has less weight than you think it does. You’ve worked hard up until this point so you should trust that you’ve done all you can do. Continue to work hard, but once the break begins, take the time to enjoy the holidays with your family and friends and recharge for next semester.
Don’t just take my word–here are some tips from other Royals! Senior Kayla Tolentino shared, “I would say a good tip is to take it one day at a time and to study mainly for the class you’re going to have your final on first, but also study a little for your most difficult classes some days in advance to be prepared.”
Junior Alayna Votino adds, “For finals, I always find it helpful to bring a tote instead of a backpack and fill it with a few extra pencils and snacks.” Bonus points for a cute tote that will have you acing your finals in style!
I hope these tips can help you for finals week. You got this Royals!
