Hey Royals! On Sunday, Dec. 1, Catholics around the world celebrated the start of the liturgical season of Advent. For those who do not know, Advent is the four weeks of preparation for the birth, coming, and return of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
In Advent, we light four candles on the Advent wreath, which typically represents the everlasting love of Jesus Christ, each week leading up to Christmas. These three purple and one pink candles represent hope, faith, joy and peace. During this time, we celebrate by opening our hearts by learning about the origin of Christ through readings, calendars, themes, prayers, and tradition.
One other way we can prepare ourselves is by downloading the app Hallow. Hallow is a Christian Catholic prayer and meditation app to help touch the lives of Catholics and Christians around the world. Hallow provides more than just the Bible. It provides prayers, meditation, sleep meditation, Christian music, and Bible stories. Hallow focuses on not just meditation, but also deepening your faith, impacting more lives, increasing prayer, and most importantly getting Jesus in the hearts of many people.
What may disinterest people about Hallow is the cost. Although the app offers a free version which is not expensive, many people do not want to pay the price for the full offer.
Due to this, Hallow is offering a 90-day free trial for the season of Advent. This is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the Christmas preparation. This is an opportunity to take advantage of Hallow’s full effects and grow closer to God in this Advent season. Here is how you can do it.
Download the Hallow app or go to the Hallow website. After following the introduction and giving your email, you can use Rosary’s promo code for a discount on your subscription after 90 days. The code is: RosaryAcademyCA90days.
Religion teacher, Mrs. Flati, agrees as she mentions, “Hallow is a great tool to help us pray. It is important that we pray because we should want to grow in our faith because our faith is the reason for the season.”
Mrs. Vasquez ’17, another fellow religion teacher, can also agree with this statement. She says that “Hallow is a great way to pray during Advent because it has a large variety of meditative resources including songs, prayers, meditations, talks, daily challenges, and more! It appeals to all different types of prayer which challenges the user to be intentional in the way they pray. Advent resources like the music playlists or daily challenges are really on the theme of waiting and anticipation for the coming of Christ!”
This is also a good time to remind Rosary students that they have a Hallow school account they can use. With this, we encourage you to download Hallow and take advantage of the free trial for all of its advantages mentioned, especially during this Advent season, and to learn about Christ’s origin as well as growing closer to God.
