As we welcome the Advent season, we should all make it a point to partake in the season of giving. Because of our school charisms, it is essential that we serve the dear neighbor this holiday, and one way Royals can give back this season is the toy drive!
From Dec. 2 to Dec. 13, Catholic Charities is collecting toys for young, underprivileged children in Orange County. Toys can be dropped off in the collection bins in front of Rooms 8 and 9.
It is essential that whatever you bring is new and unwrapped as we want to really brighten the day of these young children by making them feel special. Mrs. Kearns ’78 said, “We are hosting a Toy Drive for Catholic Charities in Orange County. Our charism is to ‘serve the dear neighbor without distinction,’ and participation in this project helps us to ‘live out our charism.'”
Speaking of charisms, this toy drive is a great way to live out faith, service, community and sisterhood. In regard to community, Fr. Ian explained, “With the toy drive program, it brings the whole community of Rosary Academy (students, faculty, staff and families) into one heart, one mission of bringing Christ to others. This program also helps to extend the sense of community beyond our own school, reaching out to children and families in a much larger area who may benefit from the donations.”
Before we all leave for Christmas break, let’s ensure that we don’t forget about the poor and vulnerable this season. Donating toys is a great way to answer our call to the community!
