This past weekend, the Trinitas program performed its first play of the year, “Peter and the Starcatcher.” Since the cast and crew worked tirelessly for many months to put this show together, I thought it would be fun to hear from the actors and tech crew.
For our first actor, Giselle Gomez ’26 gives the rundown on the show: “This play was a prequel to Peter Pan. I played the old orphan caretaker, Grempkin. It had some fun musical numbers along with witty dialogue. The play itself is littered with clever references to the classic text and tale of Peter Pan. Trinitas decided to go with a mainly female cast, though most of the roles were male. It was an interesting concept, and I loved the idea of doing something experimental. Overall, I had such a fantastic time. I always love being a part of the Trinitas productions.”
Giselle truly had an amazing stage presence in this play and we are so excited to see her in the next show.
Senior Destiny Milan worked on Tech for the show, sharing, “Working behind the scenes was super fun and gave me a new perspective on how the show is performed and how many hard-working people are working behind the scenes.”
At the end of the Saturday night show, Theater Director Mr. Betts brought out the crew to recognize all the hard work and talent that went on in the making of the play. We loved seeing Destiny, and so many others on stage!
Junior Sami DiCrisi played a leading role as Captain Robert Falcon, commenting on her experience on the set, she says, “I think this might have been my favorite show that I have done at Trinitas so far. I had the most fun on stage with everyone, and I got so close with the cast and was so happy! Plus, watching Matilda Simons ’26 was literally hilarious, I broke character every night on stage.”
Sami did an amazing job on stage, and we are so excited to see what else she will bring to Trinitas in upcoming shows.
Matilda Simons 26’ gave her take on the lead role as Captain Hook, “Peter and the Starcatcher was probably one of my favorite shows I’ve ever been in and being able to watch the story of Peter Pan be brought to life was so much fun! I played Black Stache (Captain Hook) alongside a truly amazing cast and I couldn’t have asked for a better performance.”
Captain Hook had everyone cracking up in the audience, Matilda had truly embodied her character’s humor and charisma. We were so happy to see her hard work come to life!
In the audience, Junior Sofia Velasco watched the play with some friends and gave her input on the performance: “I really liked the performance! The set was honestly super cool and even though I saw the female cast I’m sure the male one was great. Captain Hook was Smee were my favorite characters, it was super funny.”
We are so grateful to everyone who has made this play possible, especially for all the hard-working cast and crew members. If you weren’t able to make it this time, be sure to look ahead and attend Trinitas’ next show: ELF.
