Christina Burmeister graduated from Rosary in 1998, and sadly passed away in 2001. A good student who showed great concern for other people, she dedicated much of her time serving the dear neighbor without distinction. Commenting further on her character, Nikki Pontius ’03 stated, “Christina, a 1998 graduate of Rosary, was a conscientious student who displayed a deep concern for others and an outstanding spirit of involvement within the Rosary community.”
After her passing, Christina’s parents established the Christina Burmeister scholarship to honor her memory and help pay for the tuition of any eligible Rosary junior or senior. Caleigh Steward ’26 shared her thoughts on the scholarship: “This scholarship is a beautiful opportunity for a Rosary student, and I think it is a great tradition. This scholarship award can really help someone out.”
To honor Christina’s legacy on the Royal Reporter and her interest in Journalism and English, applicants are required to have sustained a minimum 3.5 GPA in their English and Journalism class (if applicable). The application includes six questions about some goals, accomplishments or character traits that you have. The questions are made to get to know who you are as a person and as a student. Moreover, an academic counselor’s signature is required and so is a parent or guardian’s.
The recipient of this scholarship will be awarded at the Mass of Immaculate Conception; it must be turned into the main office and given to Nikki Pontius (Alumnae and Annual Fund Manager) by Friday, Nov. 22. Good luck Royals!
