This Wednesday, Nov. 13, Rosary’s big and little sisters enjoyed lunch together around campus. Earlier this year, juniors were paired with freshmen to take up their new role as a “big sister.” The sophomores and seniors reunited with their little sisters who were paired with them last year. Since Wednesday was a split lunch, the sophomores and seniors were served lunch first while the freshmen and juniors attended adoration. For lunch, Rosary provided tacos to all students; little sisters were tasked with bringing their big sister’s favorite drink and big sisters brought dessert to share. This was an excellent time for students to get to know their sisters better and ask them for advice.
Hailey Blankenship ‘28 and Hailey Bedord ‘26 were eager to meet each other this year and get to know each other better. Both of them have been looking forward to the lunch and coordinated what to bring for each other. Blankenship brought two Dr. Peppers and Bedord brought a pack of brownies. It sounds like they had a great lunch! During the lunch, Blankenship said she “was able to talk to Hailey about lots of different things going on and Hailey gave me good advice for my freshman year.” This was a great opportunity for juniors to help share some advice about similar situations they had and help their sisters.
Another pair that met this year was junior Julianna Estrada ‘26 and Farrah Finnie ‘28. Julie and Farrah were able to get to know each other through volleyball, before the school year started. Since they previously met each other, it was an easy pairing and they have a lot in common. Julie was excited to see Farrah again because volleyball season ended about a month ago. Julie says she “had a good time talking to Farrah again and we both had a lot of fun during the lunch with all our friends around us.” Needless to say, their reunion with each other was well appreciated.
The big sister program is a beloved Rosary tradition that all students look forward to as they progress through high school. As lowerclassmen grow into new upperclassmen, they become excited for a number of things, including meeting their new little sister. The activities that are held throughout the year for sisters to keep in touch help them build their relationships with each other. As all students continue through the year, they can hopefully share and gain help from their sisters on campus.
