Last Wednesday, Oct. 30, the sophomore sea otters got the opportunity to attend a Rosary retreat at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse in Orange. The retreat, titled “Bloom,” primarily focused on the blossoming and growth from being young girls to the women of the future.
The girls attended a beautiful Mass, listened to maturing and development speeches from different women of Rosary, participated in games, danced with friends and were one body in Adoration. The girls also reflected on the speeches, their lives and their faith.
Olivia Man ’27 had a wonderful time at the retreat. She stated, “The sophomore retreat at the Motherhouse was super fun. The speakers were amazing, and the activities helped me get closer with my sisters. The mass and adoration were very nice and peaceful. I enjoyed it, and I look forward to more retreats with my Rosary sisters.”
A fellow sophomore, Molly Burke, shared similar opinions with Olivia. Molly expressed, “Our retreat was really awesome and beautiful. Our lunch was fire, and I thoroughly enjoyed our activities.”
Sophomores were not the only ones at the retreat. Many teachers across the Rosary campus attended as well. A chaperoning math teacher, Ms. Mangold, also had a wonderful time. She mentioned, “Being there, I got to appreciate getting to see the sister bonding that took place. I also really enjoyed learning about the ways not only students can grow and flourish, but women everywhere.”
They learned how to grow, branch out, develop and be successful in early womanhood. To say the retreat was a success is an understatement. All sophomores across Rosary’s campus can collectively agree that they all enjoyed the retreat and learned something about themselves and their peers.
They learned it is fine to struggle, to fall, and to be concealed, but to always bloom and blossom in the end. At the end of the day, the Rosary sophomores walked away with many new ideas, feeling satisfied and content with their crowns held high.
