This past Sunday was Servite’s “Under His Wings” 66th annual fashion show, and this event’s primary function is to donate to Servite’s mission. Every year, a volunteer fashion show committee puts in hours of work and dedication to making sure that this event is possible and runs smoothly. A live auction, many different raffle ticket opportunities and a boutique featuring over 20 specially selected vendors were there to support their businesses and Servite before the walk down the runway began.
The boutique was full of different vendors such as My Saint My Hero, Hapa Honey Farm, Castle Confections and so many more that were popular with those who went to enjoy this beloved Servite tradition. The live auction included a variety of different options people could bid on as well. Some of the most exciting auction items that grabbed many people’s attention were the trip to Mexico, two VIP tickets to Stagecoach and an adorable 13-week-old puppy that everyone seemed to love.
Two Servite Juniors, Matthew Schirmer and Michael Lawrence, had the fortunate job of taking care of the puppy for the duration of the show until the puppy finally found its new home. Lawrence shared, “The best part of watching the dog was first how cute and calm it was, especially when it would just sleep in my lap. The other best part was watching it’s little walk since it was just like a penguin.” Agreeing, Schirmer added, “It was so much fun to hang out with such a cute and well-behaved puppy who caused barely any trouble for us the whole day. He never barked and was super calm, the only problem was trying to get him to go to the bathroom. Besides that, it was the perfect job for Michael and I.”
A select group of Servite and Rosary seniors had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to rock the runway in the fashion show. From the stylish outfits to the beautiful moments between mothers and sons, this fashion show was definitely one to remember. Marissa Valencia ’25 shared how much fun she had: “Being a part of the fashion show was an amazing experience, especially since it’s something I wouldn’t normally do. Being able to grow closer with the other girls in the show, whether we were waiting for our turn to rehearse or perfecting our model walks, was something I will never forget.”
In all, Servite’s “Under His Wings” fashion show couldn’t have happened without the amazing volunteers. Thank you to all those who put in their time to help make this show beautiful and successful!
