One of Rosary’s core values is sisterhood, and it just so happens that there are many actual sisters at Rosary. We also have some twin sisters at Rosary. The funny part is there are TWO sets of Perez twins: senior sisters Amelia Perez and Marissa Perez and sophomore sisters Alexis Perez and Olivia Perez. Let’s learn more about the twins!
First, Alexis Perez shares her thoughts on being a twin.
Q: Did you two get in the same classes either at Rosary or in primary school?
A: We’ve been in separate classes since first grade! It’s kind of funny, actually. We still haven’t been in the same classes, even in high school.
Q: Who’s older?
A: I’m the older twin, but only by a minute! Olivia likes to say I’m 60 seconds older, but I think I’m the real winner.
Q: Did you have similar interests?
A: We have similar interests, but we’re also pretty different. We both love to dance, but Olivia is more of a homebody, while I love to go out and explore.
Alexis’ sister, Olivia Perez ’27, answers some questions about being a twin.
Q: What is it like to have a twin?
A: Having a twin is like having a built-in best friend. Having a designated person to turn to and to have a support system no matter what. Whether one of us is having friend issues or just needs someone to talk to, we always have each other.
Q: What’s your favorite part of growing up together?
A: My favorite part of growing up together was to always have someone to play with whether it was us two on vacation or playing with our Barbies after school.
Q: Do people know you’re twins or just think you are sisters?
A: People often mistake us for either cousins or just friends because we look nothing alike.
The senior Perez twins, on the other hand, have different thoughts on being twins.
Amelia Perez ’25 answers some of my questions:
Q: What’s your favorite part of growing up together?
A: Probably sharing a room. Though I am grateful I don’t have to anymore, I do appreciate the years we spent together in one room.
Q: Did you two get in the same classes either at Rosary or in primary school?
A: No, my mom told the admin to not put us together. From a young age, she wanted to establish that we are separate people.
Q: Do people know you’re twins, or do they just mistake you as just sisters?
A: Since we are fraternal everyone thinks I am the older sister because I am taller and bigger.
Marissa Perez ’25 also shared her thoughts on being a twin.
Q: Who’s older?
A: We actually were never told who was older, mainly so we wouldn’t fight about it.
Q: What is it like to have a twin?
A: It is honestly pretty cool. You have a built-in friend, so in awkward situations you always have someone to rely on.
Q: Did you have similar interests or not?
A: No, we are very different. We, although, both play soccer and tennis for Rosary!
I’ve learned so much while writing this article. Just because both Perez sisters are twins, they both have very different thoughts on being twins. Alexis and Olivia grew up liking similar things whereas Amelia and Marissa don’t share the same interests. Overall, both Perez twins love being twins and couldn’t be better best friends!
