Red Ribbon Week is a special time of the year where we are reminded to say “NO” to drugs. It is the largest drug awareness and prevention project in the US. During the week, Royals were able to wear different outfits that represent us saying “NO” to drugs. These were our different themes for this year’s Red Ribbon Week:
Monday- The theme was “Wake Up Drug Free!” Students were allowed to wear pajamas to school. Many wore the classic plaid Christmas pants, while some wore fun different ones, such as animal print. Sophomore Kaiya Watties ‘27 stated, “Pajama day was super fun. I was able to super comfy in class and it made me enjoy the day even more. I feel like it helped me focus a little bit more in class.”
Tuesday- “Your Future is too Bright for Drugs” led to a neon dress-up day. Many thought this theme was kind of hard to dress up for, but many pulled through. Kate Piper ‘25 mentioned, “I had a great day in bright clothes. I love a good neon shirt!” Me too, Kate. Neon brings a big smile to many people’s faces. It also seems to brighten up the mood.
Wednesday- “Red Out Against Drugs” was an all-red day. This day was similar to Red and Gold finale wear, but just red. Some went all out, while others stayed simple. As Brooke Selinger ’26 told us, “I liked the red-out theme today because red is such a fun color, and it represents us being against drugs.” The red color sure stands out to people’s eyes and makes them aware of the dangers of drug abuse.
Last but not least…
Thursday- In honor of Halloween, the last day of Red Ribbon Week was “Drugs are a Trick Not a Treat.” This is the theme where everyone went all out! People dressed up in the funniest costumes I could have ever imagined. Everyone was super creative. Valentina Stopani-Gonzalez ’28 said, “I think it’s fun to see people dressed up differently. It brings out people’s personalities!”
We loved everyone’s support for saying “NO” to drugs this week. Your creative ideas bring our school together and make us stronger.
