Rosary has recently joined the Pacific Coast League this year and is already having great success! This year, volleyball has had a great season and is currently undefeated in its league record. They officially became league champions with their recent victory in their match this Thursday at Irvine! This is the first time in 27 years that Rosary volleyball was become league champions. Becoming league champions also gives them a better chance to compete in CIF. I was able to talk to a couple of Varsity players to ask them more about their season.
This year, three seniors on the Varsity team are enjoying their last high school season of volleyball. I asked one of the seniors, Lizzie Larson ‘25, about her year so far. This is Lizzie’s third year on Varsity, and she is also one of the captains. Lizzie is “super excited for CIF to start” and is looking forward to seeing the outcome of their season. She believes this year is her “best year of volleyball,” and she is having fun making memories on the court for her senior year. Looking back at her season, I asked her if one game she loved stood out to her. Her “favorite game from this season was at St. Margaret’s Episcopal.” She especially loved this game because their team “learned to work together as a team, and we had a great outcome.” This game was incredibly close, but Rosary won in the fifth set. Overall, Lizzie has had an enjoyable season and cannot wait to see how her senior year will go!
Another Varsity captain, Maddie Lambros ‘26, told me about her recent season. This year is Maddie’s third year on Varsity, and she is also one of the captains on the team. Two of Maddie’s favorite games she played this season were against Orange Lutheran and St. Margaret’s Episcopal. Both of these games were hard-fought games, but Maddie says “I think OLU was my favorite match this season.” Although the Royals came up short, they were able to win the first set of the match and had three close sets. Reflecting on this match, Maddie shared, “It was one of my favorite matches because it was the first time we won a set from a Trinity League team.” This was a great accomplishment for the Royals! Maddie looks forward to the rest of the season and is excited for her team’s future.
The Varsity team has accomplished so much this season, and we cannot wait to see what else they will do. Next week, the Royals have their last match of the season on Wednesday, October 16 against St. Margaret’s Episcopal. This will be the Royals’ senior night, so come out and support!
