As we are all so excited for homecoming week, we are also super excited to welcome one of our newest teachers, Mrs. Flores. She is a wonderful addition to the Religion department and has the pleasure of teaching part of the freshman class this year in Religion I and part of the sophomore class for Religion II. Keep reading below to hear more about Mrs. Flores and who she is.
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: I’ve been a teacher for 8 years.
Q: What are your favorite things to do when you are not teaching?
A: I love cooking, baking, singing, learning about my faith, and spending time with my husband and family, and my little fur baby, Mitchell.
Q: When did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
A: I come from a long line of beautiful teachers; I fought the calling for most of my educational years. The summer before my senior year of college, I went on a mission trip to Tacna, Peru where we taught TK through 12th grade students their core subjects through dance and movement. I fell in love with teaching and came back to school senior year ready to pursue the vocation.
Q: How did you hear about Rosary?
A: I’m a graduate of Saint Joseph High School, am a Whittier local, and have had many friends and family members attend both all-girls’ schools.
Q: What Rosary tradition are you most excited to experience this year? Why?
A: Red and Gold! Since I was little, I’ve heard from older friends and family attending Rosary about the amazing Red and Gold celebrations. I am so happy to be able to witness the pure joy that is Red and Gold this year.
Q: What is your favorite holiday?
A: I love all cozy holidays, but I especially like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Such a hard question! I love many movies, but one of my favorites to watch during fall is “Harry Potter.”
Q: What is your favorite book?
A: “The Five People Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom.
Royals, let’s make sure we give a warm welcome to Mrs. Flores! We hope you have a great year and enjoy all the traditions, laughter, and memories you will surely make.
