To those who don’t know, Mr. Faubl is a returning physics teacher who taught at Rosary from 2017 to 2021. A stellar teacher and master of quick math, the Rosary community is happy to have him back teaching all things Newtonian.
In an attempt to get to know him better, I decided to ask Mr. Faubl a few questions about his East Coast upbringing and foodie opinions. Let’s get to it!
Q: Is the East Coast really better than the West Coast? If so, why?
A: I miss my friends and family on the East Coast from time to time. I like the fact that cities like New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC and Boston are all within driving distance of each other. I do not miss the hot, humid summers and the cold, icy winters. You can’t beat the weather in Southern California.
Q: What’s your favorite part about teaching at Rosary?
A: My favorite aspect of Rosary is the students. They are always upbeat and eager to learn new things. Their natural enthusiasm keeps me young. I feel it’s going to be a great school year.
Q: Why did you choose to pursue education?
A: I originally went to engineering school at Drexel University in Philadelphia. After two years I could tell it wasn’t for me and switched to Glassboro State College in NJ, which at the time was primarily a teacher’s school. My parents were both teachers, so I guess it runs in the family.
Q: What’s your favorite physics concept to teach and why?
A: My favorite topic in physics is Newton’s Laws and the study of forces. There’s an endless number of variations you can do with them. I learn something new every time I teach it.
Q: Favorite NFL team? Thoughts on the Chiefs and their recent rise to the spotlight?
A: I’m a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan. 2017 was a great year. I’m happy for the KC Chiefs having success in recent years. I like I when the smaller market teams have success. Andy Reid is a sure Hall of Famer.
Q: What’s your favorite place you’ve travelled to?
A: My favorite international destination was Rome. I feel like you could wander the streets for weeks and not see every aspect of the city. Great food and great weather! In the Americas I love the National Parks, especially Glacier in Montana. Plus, Jasper and Banff in Alberta, Canada. It’s amazing to see a grizzly bear up close. Elks as well.
Q: Are the pizza and bagels really better on the East Coast?
A: The pizza, bagels and cheesesteaks are all better back east. In general, the Italian food is as a whole. But out here you can’t beat the Mexican cuisine.
