On Tuesday, August 27, Rosary’s seniors went to St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Yorba Linda bright and early, at 7:30 a.m., for their first senior retreat of the school year. The retreat’s theme was “Open the Door to Your Heart.”
The seniors started the day with mass presided by Fr. Ian. Rebecca Nassar ‘25 enjoyed the mass, saying, “The mass was uplifting and insightful. It made me feel ready to take on the school year.”
Throughout the day, they had speeches from Rosary’s Campus Ministry Directors Mrs. Kearns ‘78 and Ms. Pallares, and English teacher and Assistant Dean Mrs. Langenwalter. In addition, the seniors had several icebreakers, group activities, and worship led by former religion teacher, Mr. Kim. To end the day, the Royals enjoyed adoration before heading home.
Ms. Pallares thinks the retreat was a success, commenting, “The Senior Retreat, Open the Door To Your Heart, was a day to grow deeper in faith and strengthen their personal relationship with Christ. It is important for seniors to reflect on the way they choose to open and close their doors based on life experiences so that they are prepared to invite Christ into any situation…As they walk through Senior year into life, may they remember to keep their door open to God, even if it is slightly. It is that act of surrender that will allow God to do His Will.”
Next month, the Juniors will have their class retreat on September 25. We’re so glad our Royal seniors got a chance to refresh before the next school year!
