We can all definitely say that the summer of 2024 was one to remember, especially in the field of music. Let’s go over which song will reign as our official 2024 Song of the Summer!

Our first contestant for 2024’s Song of the Summer is none other than “Good Luck, Babe!” by the electric, unapologetic icon Chappell Roan. The singer’s emotional song debuted on the Billboard 100, peaking at the number six spot. But the spunky hit did not stop there: with a number seven spot on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart and 13 on the Adult Pop Airplay list, “Good Luck, Babe!” is sure to put up some competition for the glorious title of “2024’s Song of the Summer.”

Next up, Sabrina Carpenter’s recent release, “Espresso,” ranked number one on the Billboard Global 200, Billboard Global Excl. U.S., and Adult Pop Airplay. The song further proved to be an international hit when it ranked third on the Billboard Hot 100 and second on the Global 200. The feel-good track also topped charts in 18 countries outside the U.S. A worthy candidate for 2024’s Song of the Summer, “Espresso” has become a staple in many playlists. Listeners just couldn’t stop singing the iconic line “That’s that me espresso,” putting this earworm-y tune on a constant replay in everyone’s heads. It seems that every person wants a bit of that me espresso!

Our third candidate in this cut-throat competition has to be “Apple” by the one and only Charli XCX. A seasoned artist with other global hits such as “Boom Clap” and “Fancy,” Charli has single-handedly created a worldwide fascination for what we all know as the “brat” aesthetic. Her electro-pop hit earned both the number eight spot on the UK Singles Chart and number 51 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, which are

just two of many accreditations that “Apple” has earned. Not to mention, the song became a TikTok sensation along with its iconic dance. In fact, Charli’s album became so viral that it made a feature on the popular Roblox game, Dress to Impress!

Last, but certainly not least, Billie Eilish made an exciting addition to the competition with her trendy track, “BIRDS OF A FEATHER.” Soon after its release on July 2, 2024, the song became the ultimate anthem for best friends: “Birds of a feather, we should stick together.” The wholesome tune deservingly peaked at number five (as a single track) on the Billboard Hot 100 along with reaching the number one spot on both the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts. Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX better watch out: Billie Eilish is coming in hot!

Overall, no matter who may win this competition, it is clear that all of these hits deserved every bit of clout they earned. The artists are all equally exceptional, and I could not be more excited to see what the summer of 2025 will bring!
