The Welcome Back Dance was a blast! On August 24, Rosary hosted the Y2K-themed Welcome Back Dance in the Karcher Center. Although I almost strained my calf while doing the “Cotton Eyed Joe,” I still loved every second of the night.
That said, I wonder what the freshmen thought about their first high school dance. Let’s take a look at what some of them had to say about their experience.
Gabriela Randall-Felix ‘28 shared, “I think that my first school dance was a fun experience. I got to meet a lot of new people, I also got to talk to people I already knew before and get to know them more! It was really fun listening to the music with my friends, and the shaved ice was really good!” I think a lot of us Rosary students can agree with Gabriela’s response.
Gianna Luna ‘28 explained, “My first high school dance was pretty good. I had a lot of fun meeting new people and making new memories. I’m so happy that I had the chance to catch up with some people who I haven’t talked to in a while. Overall, I’m really glad I went to the dance.” Like Gianna, I’m sure many people had a great time meeting new people.
Connell Hawkins ‘28, who attends Servite, stated, “It was fun and I met a lot of people. I think the DJ was alright.” Having personally loved the DJ, I’m just going to leave the DJ drama between Connell and Rosary. Connell, it’s up to you whether you’ll live up to your sister’s (Finley Hawkins ‘24) legendary dance skills or not.
James Kennedy ‘28 adds, “The samba I attended from dusk until the dead of night was truly exquisite and delectable. I feel that the automobile packed with Hawaiian ice was a very nice touch that truly brought the whole ball together. This experience as a whole can only be seen in a positive light that can only be outshone by what lies ahead.” Based on his very detailed response, I think it’s safe to say that he had a good time.
Overall, I think everyone enjoyed the Y2K dance and can be expected to give a similar rating on upcoming dances!
