It’s finals week, so that means summer is finally here. After a long year, the Royals are eager to share their summer plans and anticipations for the summer of ’24.
Sophomore Justine Wilson ’26 is looking forward to “better weather, and spending time with friends. I haven’t had a lot of free time this year, so over the summer, I’m going to make the most of my time and veg. Shopping, swimming, and sleeping are my top priorities at the moment. I think everyone should spend at least one day of summer at the beach.” I think everyone can agree that summer isn’t summer without at least one beach day.
Sophomore Lauren Marvray shared, “Over the summer, I’m going to Santa Barbara and staying close to the beach. I can’t wait to go to the beach every single day. Something I would recommend doing over the summer is finding a new hobby. I learned how to swim last summer, and now I’m on the swim team!” Crocheting, sewing, and painting are also some other hobbies to try over the summer to help keep busy.
Belen Santiago ’26 mentioned, “I’m going to Mexico with my family to visit my grandma. I’m also in cross-country so I’m going to be practicing with my team over the summer!”
Diana Penaloza ’26 explained, “I really want to work on myself and hang out with my friends. I’m so ready to relax and get that summer tan.”
Jocelyn Ojeda ’26 is very excited for all the travelling that awaits her: “I’m going to Mexico and Santa Barbara to see the beaches and hanging out with friends. Something I like to do (and would recommend) doing this summer is hiking. I find it really calming and it helps to clear my mind.” Some great places to hike are Laguna’s Thousand Step Beach and the Hollywood sign.
Junior Elizabeth Ramos plans on “spending a ton of time at the beach. Hanging out with my friends and getting plenty of free time to practice for my driver’s license. Junior year has been busy, so I’m glad knowing I’ll have some time to myself to relax, which is something I would suggest for everyone.”
Some other fun summer plans could include:
- Having a bonfire with family and/or friends
- Bike riding
- Hosting or going to a sleepover
- Going to a fair (the OC fair opens every summer and is a fun place to spend time with friends
- Going thrifting
- Camping
- Making a new playlist
- Baking something new
- Going to a museum (Griffith Observatory is a great option)
- Night swimming
- Taking a road trip
Use this as inspiration to get through the final day of school; we’re in the last stretch! Finish strong on finals and have a great summer.
