Since there’s only a day left in school, I thought it was time to reminisce about my eventful sophomore year. So, here’s a list of some of my favorite things from this school year:
- Favorite Class
My favorite classes this year had to be Honors English II and AP European History. Honors English is always an amusing class and I learned so much this year. I also really liked the projects we completed and our introduction to rhetorical analysis.
AP Euro was also great this year. It was so fun getting to challenge myself in this class, and it’s just crazy how much history reflects our day-to-day lives. Also, now I just have a bunch of random history trivia I can lord over my family and friends; sometimes it’s fun to be the know-it-all.
2. Favorite Teacher
I honestly can’t narrow this down to one teacher. All my teachers this year were wonderful in their own way.
My classmate, Isabella Dedes ‘26, on the other hand, has a definitive favorite, “Ms. Marzolf is the most amazing teacher ever, her music taste is awesome, she has the best outfits, and she’s so smart. She also has really fun lesson plans. She’s so cool, so fun, her class is awesome and I love her so much, so thank you, Ms. Marzolf!”
3. Favorite Assignment
My favorite assignment this year was my AP Euro Binder. When it came time to study for my AP test, this organized binder was so helpful and I really loved making a unique cover for my binder.
4. Favorite Red and Gold Memory
My favorite memory was definitely hugging all my friends after we found out Gold won. It was so unreal, I honestly still couldn’t process the fact that we won, but getting to share that moment with my friends was truly special. My favorite hug was from Emma Muse ‘26. I was standing at the front by the stage, and I hadn’t seen anyone on Red team yet, and out of the crowd came Emma and her red glitter face. I was so happy to see her, and the fact that she came to find me and congratulate me was so meaningful.
5. Favorite Club
My favorite club that I was involved in this year was the Model United Nations Club. Even though it was daunting at first, MUN threw me headfirst into the world of diplomatic relations and the more I learned the more I had fun. This year was my first in MUN, and I’ve learned so much from experiencing conferences for the first time.
Also, MUN helped me become friends with club president Tahlia Jain ‘26.
My fellow MUN member, Bella Vallejo ‘26 adds, “I love MUN, it’s one of my favorite clubs. Tahlia and Megan Martinez ‘24 put in so much effort to make another great year. Getting to go to conferences and meeting other students has been a really amazing experience.”
The 2023-2024 school year has certainly had its ups and downs, but I’m so looking forward to next year. Have a great break, Royals!
