The school year has come to an end, and the class of 2024 has officially graduated. This means that I, Jazzy Sandoval, am going to be a senior. Because of this exciting time, I wanted to share what I am most excited for senior year.
- College sweatshirts and leggings
At Rosary, it is a senior privilege to wear college sweatshirts to school and black leggings on spirit days. Although it may seem like a small difference, it is a way to show our seniority at school, and we have waited for these privileges since freshman year.
2. Red and Gold
My last Red and Gold is going to be bittersweet, but I am so excited because this is the most I’ll be involved in the production. I am really hoping to get a win because I’ve never won, and neither has my sister. I am trying to break our family losing streak and finally see my color’s confetti shoot out of the cannon. I am sad it will be my last Red and Gold ever, but I am going to make sure to make the most of it.
3. Senior night (sports)
Every sport team hosts a senior night to recognize their senior athletes. For soccer, we get banners and flower crowns as we are presented in front of friends and family. This act of appreciation is also a way to say goodbye to teammates because it will be our last season with the team.
4. Arizona trip
The varsity soccer team takes an annual trip to Arizona during Christmas break. The trip is great for team bonding and enjoying each other’s company. We have won the tournament the past two years, and we are ready to defend our title for the third time. I am so excited for the trip next school year since it is one of my last chances to make memories with my team.
5. Prom
Prom this year was definitely the best school dance. All the seniors this year kept telling us juniors it was the most fun dance, and they were right. My friends and I made such good memories and I am glad we get to do it again next year. I also hope the DJ is just as good as the one this year; music can make or break a dance.
6. Grad Night
Grad Night is held at Disneyland for Rosary and Servite, and it is toward the end of the school year. This Disneyland trip is really special because it will be most students’ last Disney trip for a while since they will be moving out-of-state to different colleges. I can’t wait to spend the day riding the best rides, eating good food, and spending quality time with my friends.
7. Graduation
The final event of senior year is graduation. I attended this year’s graduation, and it is more of a celebration than a sad farewell. It is the last milestone we will complete as a class after all our hard work for four years. Being together on that stage looks like such a special moment and I hope it is everything I imagine when I live it next year.
Overall, there is so much I get to look forward to next year at Rosary. Junior year was tough, but we were able to finish strong as we prepare for our senior year. Everyone’s advice seems to be to enjoy every little moment, so that is exactly what I will be doing.
