As I sit down to write this, I am filled with a lot of emotions—gratitude, nostalgia, and fulfillment. Serving as the Yearbook Editor-in-Chief has been an incredible journey, one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Being part of this class for two years has not only allowed me to grow as a leader but also to form bonds and create memories that are unforgettable.
First and foremost, I want to say thank you to Mr. Lyons. Your dedication, passion, and love for this class and the yearbook are beyond amazing. From the many late nights that you spent perfecting last-minute spreads, to your thoughtful gestures like baking for us, you are the best yearbook advisor any school could hope for. Your guidance and support have been the rock of the book, and I speak for all of us when I say that we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.
To my fellow yearbook members, you have been one of my favorite things about this class. The many hours we’ve spent together, even before our class began (I’m talking Spring/Summer 2023…)—brainstorming, designing, editing, and of course, munching—our favorite yearbook activity. Our potlucks were the best, and the moments we shared made even the most stressful days bearable. This yearbook shows all of our hard work and collaboration, and I am so proud of what we have accomplished.
Now, I want to take a moment to speak to the underclasswomen. Freshmen and sophomores, I know that the yearbook is reserved for juniors and seniors, and sign-up for next year is already closed, but I strongly encourage you to consider joining when the opportunity comes. Being part of the yearbook staff is different than just any other class—it’s like a huge, fun, group project with all of your friends. The bonds you form, the skills you develop, and the feeling you get once you see the final product makes everything worth it. Plus, who can resist our potlucks? (They are definitely the best potlucks on campus).
As I sign off, I want to say goodbye with a full heart. I will miss this class dearly and the joy it brought me. The memories we’ve created together are ones I will treasure forever. To Mr. Lyons, thank you for being the backbone of the class. To my fellow yearbook members, thank you for making this year so memorable and fun. And to the underclassmen, I hope you remember these words so that you too, can be a part of something so truly special.
Thank you all for an incredible experience. I am saying goodbye, but our legacy will live on in the pages of the 23-24 yearbook.
With all my love for one last time,
Cait Smith
