Being a graduating senior often comes with bittersweet feelings. On one hand, graduating high school means more freedom, new experiences, and the start of your future. However, it also means leaving your friends, ending high school experiences, and facing the exciting, yet extremely terrifying unknown.
I’m not a super sentimental person, but as graduation comes around the corner, I’ve found myself reminiscing about my favorite things at Rosary that I won’t be able to find anywhere else. Here is a list I have compiled in my head of things that I will miss when I go off to college:
- Red and Gold sleepovers
- Life sized cardboard cutouts of various celebrities in the corner of multiple classrooms
- Carpooling everywhere with Alyssa Ramirez ‘24
- Playing “Just Dance” in class
- Very odd items that can be found in room 204 (Mr. Bevins) and 208 (Ms. Barclay ‘94)
- Journalism yap sessions with Caitlin Smith ‘24
- Class potlucks
- Eating lunch under the staircase with my best friends everyday
- Pretending I don’t feel well just so I can go to the nurse and pet Libby the dog.
- Journalism candy jar
- Mrs. Ward updating me about her cats every AP Gov class
- Hearing crazy stories from Mrs. LeClair and Ms. Barclay
- Daily check-ins with the nurses when I have a concussion
- Red and Gold decorated bathrooms
- The normalization of mismatched fuzzy socks
- Shamelessly walking into school after taking 5 minutes to get ready
- Having a conversation with Mrs. Oliver every time I oversleep and walk in late or leave early (which was quite often)
I always thought I wouldn’t be scared to graduate high school, and I couldn’t wait to get out. However, as the end quickly approaches, I’m learning to appreciate all the memories I have made and experiences I have had with the people who I know will be my lifelong friends.
As much as I know I will miss these high school experiences that I won’t be able to experience again, I, along with most seniors, am ready to graduate and start a new chapter of my life. Congratulations to all seniors for making it through your four years of high school. It may have been tough, but you’re almost there! Enjoy the last few days you have at Rosary.
