If there’s one thing I know for sure about Rosary students, it is that they love to dress up and wear unique clothing items and hairstyles. Throughout the years, I have seen my fair share of silly outfits wandering around Rosary’s campus.
Because of Covid, I didn’t see any craziness my freshman year, so starting with some gems from my sophomore year:
Claire Heidelman ‘24 rocked some crazy hair at one of the varsity volleyball games. My favorite part is how nicely combed her hair is, not to mention the perfect center part.
Briana Reyes ‘24 channelled her inner fish out of water by wearing a swim cap around school. She has never done swim or water polo, so the mystery still remains of where she got the cap.
We all know Aundrea Velazquez ‘24 sometimes struggles to follow the dress code at school. On this occasion, she was actually in proper uniform until she ripped her tights and made them into DIY biker shorts. That was a very creative idea, Aundrea!
Finley Hawkins ‘24 really loves her dog, Maggie. But wearing socks with your dog’s face and name on them may be a little too far. Finley explained, “Maggie is my favorite dog ever, so of course I am gonna wear socks with her on them.” This is more than love; Finley is obsessed.
Paloma Borsari ‘24 wanted to switch up her hair by testing out an aggressive side part. Let’s just say the side part didn’t last long.
Sophomore year, the cheer team got stuck in the Florida airport trying to get a flight home. Jacee Baumann ‘24 was going a bit delusional after spending hours in the airport so she put on her cheetah sunglasses to spice up her red Rosary Cheer sweatsuit. This is fashion.
Now onto Junior year looks:
Paloma Borsari ‘24, Jeanna Sheremetta ‘24, and I dressed up as 80’s workout jazzercise instructors for Red & Gold Kickoff. These neon outfits were so fun and were the perfect costume for our roles in the skit.
Sarah Quiros ‘24 was borrowing Ava Fishman‘s ’24 heels and wanted to try them on at school.
Seniors Milan Smith and Ava Fishman displayed their love for the movie High School Musical by dressing up as Troy and Chad for one of the spirit weeks. Ava said, “Me and Milan are best friends so we had to do a costume together, recreating some iconic besties.”
Ava Bernard ’24 and Sonoma Baumgartner ’24 took decades day to a whole other level. Sonoma even topped off her crazy 80s costume with a fun wig.
To get into the Christmas spirit, I wore an elf sweater dress to school junior year and senior year. If you ask around, you will find out the sweater dress is a fan favorite!
And lastly…senior year!
Before winter break, we did a White Elephant in journalism. Gigi Coo ’24 got a super funky hat. Not only is this hat super stylish, but also kept her warm throughout winter break.
Also from the White Elephant, Paige Sorenson ’24 and Paloma Borsari received some crazy socks. Paige’s socks were knee-high, rainbow-striped, toe socks. Paloma’s socks had animal paws on them and looked pretty realistic. I can’t decide which pair of socks was crazier.
The next crazy outfits were also in one of Ms. Barclay‘s classes. These costumes were for a Beowulf project. Jacee Baumann, Ava Fishman, and I wore gladiator costumes for our Beowulf party. Everyone loved them.
I saw tons of crazy and awesome Red & Gold Finale costumes, including Sherry Diep ’24 dressing up as “Where’s Waldo?”. Sherry shared, “I have painted my face every year for Red & Gold finale.” Wow, that’s some dedication Sherry.
For Red & Gold finale this year, Jacee and I dressed up in matching costumes to be Jesus and Moses. Jacee claimed, “We had a small disagreement about who was going to be Jesus. Ultimately, I got to be Jesus because He is who I am named after. Lily was Moses and thought about parting the Red Sea.”
I hope this made you giggle, or at least smile because some of these fashion choices are pure insanity and were part of the reason that Rosary is so fun and silly. I love the uniqueness of Rosary and the fact that none of this would happen if we were at a different school. I can easily say I am going to miss Rosary’s individuality and quirkiness.
