On May 13, 2024, four Rosary seniors got a chance to celebrate signing day in the Karcher Center amidst the encouragement of their friends and families: Makayla Palos Rodriguez, Gigi Coo, Abby Wright, and Izzy Delgado.
This signing day was a little bit different. Rather than celebrating the chance for Rosary Royals to play their sport in college, this signing day was instead focused on students involved in Trinitas Arts Conservatory and what they will be studying in college.
Makayla has been on the Trinitas stage numerous times throughout her four years at Rosary and will be attending the University of Utah for a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre, saying, “I was really excited for the Trinitas signing day that happened this past Monday! I remember when I found out it was happening, and I felt grateful to be receiving this recognition for all of my dedication and hard work within the Trinitas program over the past four years. Signing the paper in front of my family and closest friends was an amazing feeling of accomplishment and I am now even more ecstatic to begin this new college journey in Utah!”
Abby was also super excited for the signing day, explaining, “The event as a whole was exciting and it made me look forward to my time at Fullerton College, where I will be dual majoring in both immersive media and anthropology of Ancient Egypt!”
Gigi, who has also been performing for years, felt that sense of accomplishment from the signing day, saying, “The signing day made me feel so accomplished and fulfilled to have theatre representation. This achievement and getting accepted to an acting major was something that took loads of work and dedication. I’m so proud of these girls and our persistence.” Gigi will be going to NYU in the Tisch School of the Arts for Drama!
Izzy, who will be going to Southern Utah University to major in Theatre Design and Technology, as well as Aeronautical Science, agrees: “I loved that I was able to participate in the first-ever Trinitas Signing Day. I am so excited to do two things that I love and am excited to continue my path in technical theatre.”
Ultimately, getting into college with a theatre degree takes a lot of hard work. From numerous auditions and callbacks to memorizing a wide variety of songs and monologues, this is no small feat for these four Trinitasians. Good luck with your future endeavors, Royals, we’ll all be rooting for you!
