This past Tuesday, our beloved seniors were recognized for their academic achievement over the past school year. The class was presented with awards, cords, and plaques for high achievement in various academic, extracurricular and athletic areas.
The ceremony began with certificates given out for academic achievement based on GPA. Then the cords, which will be worn at graduation, were given out in recognition of: CSF, NHS, SNHS, Journalism/Arts, Thespian Society (Theater), and Language Arts.
Senior Makayla Palos Rodriguez remarked, ” I am so grateful to have been recognized for my devotion to the performing arts in high school. To me, these awards symbolize the hard work I’ve put in and how much I’ve grown over the past four years. I’m excited to wear these items proudly at graduation!”
Senior Brooke Skipton said, “I was not expecting to get the award for overall language department but I’m really happy I did. I feel like it validated my desire to pursue linguistics. I was really giddy about that.”
Athletic awards were also acknowledged for specific athletes who won certain titles for the commitment and dedication to their sports.
Senior Milan Smith, who won senior athlete of the year, stated, “I was really happy and surprised when I got this award. It is a really nice way to end my 4 years at Rosary. I am really looking forward to track in college.
Additionally, teachers chose one student in each of their senior classes to be recognized for excellence in the subject.
Our very own Marci Rau expressed, “I was definitely shocked when I got the award for journalism, but I’m so honored. I’m going to miss it so much since it’s my favorite class. I loved getting to celebrate all my classmates one late time. Our class is seriously stacked, and I’m so proud of everyone.”
This ceremony was a wonderful recognition of all the seniors’ hard work. With graduation coming up, make sure to say your goodbyes to the class of 2024!
