Rosary’s track team crosses the finish line

The end of an era is upon us. The OG track crew is finally graduating. Seniors Milan Smith, Elena Saenz, Lainey Goldstein, and Paige Sorensen have been on the track team since freshman year, starting off their career by being the only all-freshmen 4×100 team in Division 4 to make it to CIF. Since their freshman year, the team has made a name for itself within the track community, becoming co-league champions in 2023 and continually having athletes make it to CIF. They have broken school records, won medal after medal, and earned patch after patch.

This past weekend, Lainey Goldstein, Paige Sorensen, Milan Smith, Justine Wilson ‘26, Sol Lee ‘24, and Jacqueline Liao ‘27, competed in the CIF Finals meet, winning runner-up in Division 4.

In order to honor all the many successes and wins of the track athletes who worked so hard this year, we decided to share the awards won:

Milan describes, “I had a great season and really loved competing alongside my teammates. We have been blessed to be able to make it as far as we did in CIF.” Justine also says, “I have become close with these seniors the past couple of years and will miss them next year. I am so proud of all they have accomplished.” We have thoroughly enjoyed running these past 4 years. Thank you Rosary track for the amazing season we have had!

A senior at Rosary Academy, Lainey Goldstein is super excited about her first year on the Royal Reporter. She is involved in various activities on campus including, ASB, Campus Ministry, Ambassadors, CSF, NHS, and track and water polo team. She enjoys spending her free time at the beach, hanging out with her friends, listening to music and running. She is a huge food enthusiast, and especially enjoys bananas and banana flavored things. In college, she would like to major in philosophy or anthropology, to eventually study law and become a lawyer. She is an energetic and outgoing person and very hyped about her upcoming senior year!

Paige Sorensen, Staff Writer

Paige Sorensen is a senior at Rosary Academy, and this is her first year as a Royal Reporter. On campus, she is involved in Campus Ministry, the Royal Ambassador program, Model UN, NHS, CSF, Science National Honors Society, and a French National Honors Society and French Club officer. After school, Paige runs for the Rosary Track and Field team and hopes to run D1 track in college. When she is not on the track, Paige loves to bake--every day. She has a passion for science and, at this point, life-threatening addictions to Liquid IV and coffee. In the future, Paige hopes to become a backup dancer for Taylor Swift despite her lack of coordination and cringe-worthy dance moves.
