Senior Disney Day is rapidly approaching and we only have 16 days left! It is time to start planning who we are going with, how and when we are going to get there, and most importantly, what we are going to wear. Now you can get a super cute and affordable shirts for the Class of 2024!
To get some more info, we’ve gotten to ask the maker behind this design a few questions about these adorable shirts.
Q: What’s your crafting process like?
A: It all starts with my daily trips to Michaels. Usually, I’ll get an order or two during the day and I’ll head to Michaels after school to get the shirts. Next, I’ll cut out some numbers and glue them on. The drying process takes a while, so I watch Dance Moms to pass the time. Then I’ll glue the little grad cap onto the Mickey in layers so it stands out a little better. I make the tassels and sew it on. Lastly, this process can usually make the shirts a little wrinkly, so I iron the shirt and then fold it. I try to give the completed shirts to people no more than three school days after they ordered, just in case they’re not happy with the size so they’ll have time to exchange it.
Q: What inspired this project?
A: My friend group wanted cute shirts for Disney, so obviously, I turned to Etsy. The shirts I saw there were pretty pricey, so I sketched out a design that I could make for significantly cheaper. Not only did my Disney group love my design, but other friends also showed interest. That’s when I decided to start selling the shirts to any senior who wanted one.
Q: Where are the profits going?
A: For the most part, the money I make off these shirts goes right back to the cost of materials. I purposefully made the selling price really close to the cost of materials so that every senior could afford a shirt. I’m also donating part of the profits to charity! I’m still doing research, but I want to donate to a charity that helps more kids go to Disney.
Q: How do I get a shirt?
A: Reach out to me at [email protected]! The shirts are only $20! For the most part, I just sell the shirts as a basic white tee (as seen in the pictures of seniors Marci Rau, Siena Lopez, and Natalia Chavez), but if you have a certain top that you want me to embellish with the design, let me know.
Senior Izzy Walker was also part of the first group to get the shirts. She says, “I am SO EXCITED to be going to Disneyland with some of my best friends. I know all of the park guests will be so jealous of our matching shirts.”
With only 16 days left, now is the time to start deciding what you want to wear, seniors! If you want one of these shirts, don’t hesitate to email, text, or send a carrier pigeon to Marci.
