As the swim season rapidly comes to an end, with just league finals this Friday, we wanted to give a recap on the season. The first meet was against El Modena, where everyone was finding their footing, but the team did great.
The team worked hard, five days a week, always putting their best foot forward at their meets. It was a long season with lots of bumps, but everyone came out as stronger swimmers, learned how to face difficulties, and still had lots of fun.
Sophomore Addison Gutierrez offers her favorite memory from the season: “I loved having all of my friends around me, but my favorite memory was making up a game called mermaid vs. fishermen – even Coach Gabe was entertained.” It’s true, mermaid vs. fishermen is officially the best pool game. For some context, mermaid vs. fishermen is a game where one girl is the mermaid and the other is the fishermen, the mermaid tries to swim to the other side of the pool before they get caught by the fishermen. It is a super fun game while also getting a workout.
Throughout the season, each swimmer worked hard during practices in order to improve their time and all of the strokes. I, Lauren Marvray ‘26, was really glad that I joined the swim team this year. I was able to make some really good friends, and I was really happy when I, or any of my other teammates would do good on races or improve time.
Senior night was a few meets ago against Orange Lutheran, and senior Sophia Long shares, “Senior Night was so special and fun to me. I loved having all of my friends to support me, and it was the perfect way to end the season and my time at Rosary swim.”
Overall, the swim season was successful for girls to gain strength at their stroke and become closer, and we cannot wait for next season. Be sure to support the swim team at league finals this Friday!
