This upcoming Saturday, April 27, is the Wells of Life 2024 Run for Water. It’s a 1k walk or a 5k run at Miles Square Park in Fountain Valley. Wells of Life is a non-profit organization that builds wells for the people of Uganda to have clean water. The donation to the Wells of Life organization is either made prior to the walk, or through the registration money at the walk.
This year, Rosary had a goal of raising $4,000 in order to restore the well we built in 2017. On Friday, April 19, we had a school wide jeans day where students brought $5 to wear jeans or leggings. That day’s money went straight to the donation fund goal of $4,000 to build restore the well in Uganda. Rosary surpassed this amount and ended up raising more than $6,000.
This donation alone was enough to restore the older well and build a new one with the extra money. Mrs. Kearns describes her excitement about the funds raised, “We are incredibly proud of the Rosary Academy Community for ‘reaching out to our dear neighbor without distinction’ and providing healthy, clean, water to those who are thirsty to enable them to live longer lives. Together, we made a ROYAL difference!”
As well as the $6,000 already raised, the Campus Ministry team is trying to build a team to walk this Saturday so we can raise even more money for the program. The registration fee of $40 is a direct donation to provide the people of Uganda with clean, fresh water.
