Although it may not seem like it, a preschooler and a high school senior have one thing in common: both have big dreams about what they want to be when they grow up. As the school year comes to an end, I decided it would be fun to show the similarities and differences between senior students’ childhood dream jobs and the college majors they have chosen.

Senior Brooke Skipton offers her childhood dream job: “I wanted to be a ballerina when I was a kid because I was in dance class. Then I quit dancing to become a kickboxer. But now I’m a dancer again. But my college major doesn’t reflect that at all. My college major is Applied Linguistics.”
Riley Martinez ‘24 shares a hilarious response: “When I was a kid, I really wanted to be a lawnmower. Not a gardener. A lawnmower. In preschool, I would stay home and watch my gardener, Rafael, and I just felt inspired to be like him. Now my college major is Cinematic Arts. I don’t know what happened. “
Even though their childhood dreams aren’t reflected in their college majors, it’s safe to say that these seniors will do amazing things in each of their respective colleges and career fields!
