Not only does Trinitas put on three incredible shows every year, but they also have a very active and successful Thespian Troupe. According to resident thespian Gigi Coo ‘24, thespian troupes are similar to Girl Scouts. The thespians roaming the halls of Rosary and Servite are members of Troupe 4566. This past weekend, as Easter Break was coming to an end, some of the talented members of Troupe 4566 traveled to Upland High School for State Fest.
Gigi explains what the event was, “State Festival is where every troupe in the state goes to Upland High School and performs for judges for a chance to win an award and get feedback. Every thespian performs what they call a ‘Thespy’ that corresponds to their interest. For example, some of these categories are stage management, acting, musical theatre, and dance. Along with performing for judges, you have the chance to meet tons of other thespians and go to workshops to learn about the industry. We sleep in a hotel with our troupe each night, and we spend the day at Upland.”
Rosary’s beloved transfer student Gabby Thompson ‘24 used to go to Upland High School. She describes her State Fest experience, “I absolutely love State Fest, and was so happy I could go back this year! The last time I went was when I was in the Thespian troupe at Upland, so it was super fun having a full circle moment of being back on that campus for the three-day weekend, but with Trinitas this time! I loved seeing my old theatre family and hanging out with them but also growing with my new one! State Fest is the best experience ever, and I’m so incredibly happy to have been blessed with a Superior for my monologues! If you’re a Thespian, go next year!”
Makayla Palos Rodriguez ‘24 “I competed in the Solo Musical Theatre and Solo Acting and I got superiors for both! I was really sad that this was my last year, but I definitely made the most of it and had a great time.”
