There is no shortage of sister duos on the Rosary campus. From the freshmen to the senior class, there seem to be plenty of sisters roaming the halls, including my own! (Quick shoutout Kylie Kennedy ‘27!) But what about siblings that are on both Rosary and Servite campus? I interviewed Lainey Goldstein ‘24, Sammy Oskorus ‘25, and Paige Sorensen ‘24, all of whom have a brother who attends Servite, to see what their relationship is and how much they know about each other and the schools they attend.
Who is your brother and what grade is he in? What is he involved with at Servite?
Lainey: “My brother is Nick Goldstein, and he’s a freshman. He was in water polo and basketball, and now he does track.”
Sammy: “His name is Joseph Oskorus and he is in 11th grade, we are twins. He is a part of the football team.”
Paige: “My brother is Luke Sorensen and he is a sophomore at Servite. He is involved with varsity football, wrestling, and rugby. He did baseball in his freshman year as well.”
On a scale of 1-10, how close would you say the two of you are and why?
Lainey: “I would say we are an 8. I drive him all the time and we talk quite often. Sometimes I will take him out to dinner or to an event we both thought was cool. I also take him to a lot of the senior parties I go to.”
Sammy: “On a scale from 1-10, I believe we are a 9. Because we were both in the same womb, we’ve gotten close. As time went on, we hung out a lot and have been with each other for a while.”
Paige: “Probably an 8. We have always been pretty close, but I would say my siblings and I got closer these past two years because I am leaving for college soon. We also go to each other’s concerts, and sporting events, and we travel together. My parents put an emphasis on family time too, so we have a lot of memories and have spent quality time together.”
How much do you tell him about Rosary, and how much does he tell you about Servite?
Lainey: “He tells me enough about Servite and I’ll tell him enough about Rosary. We will mostly talk about people or important things that happened at either school.”
Sammy: “He knows all about Rosary, especially since we have two other sisters who have gone to Rosary. I have two brothers, so I know a lot about Servite.”
Paige: “He tells me a lot about Servite, especially the dynamics between teammates. I tell him quite a bit about Rosary, especially the fun stuff that happens on campus. Luke got jealous when I told him there were bake sales almost every week on campus, the boys like sweet treats too!
Based on this information, is there anything you wish would happen at Rosary based on what happens at Servite?
Lainey: “It seems like at Servite, the seniors get more privileges, so I wish we had more senior privileges. Also, after your freshman year at Servite, your sport becomes your last period, and I wish we had that schedule.”
Sammy: “At Servite, they have more lunch lines which helps them get their food quicker.”
Paige: “Yes! He tells me a lot about Priory, where they learn fun social skills and important values, and I think Rosary could have something similar. I love office hours, don’t get me wrong, but we could use some of that FLEX time to learn about things that set us up for college and beyond, something I’ve learned they have at Servite.”
Do you think people would expect you to have a brother at Servite, and do you find it awkward?
Lainey: “I don’t think it’s that weird to have a brother at Servite. I mean, occasionally when he talks or dates a girl at Rosary, it gets a bit awkward, especially when they break it off and I all of a sudden have beef with a freshman, but I enjoy having him there especially since we play the same sports, and it makes my athletic experience more fun.”
Sammy: “I don’t think it’s weird, but I do get asked a lot where he is since I’m not with him all the time.”
Paige: “Having a brother at Servite is so enjoyable! His senior friends are my friends too, and it’s fun taking my siblings to parties because everyone knows each other.”
These Royals seem to be getting the inside scoop on all that’s happening at Servite, and hopefully, these Servite brother and Rosary sister duos can continue to grow closer as the year goes on!
