Mr. Bevins’ creative writing class is excited to share their new art platform, Royal Aura. To explain their new website, the creative writing class took some time to answer a few questions:
1. What is the website called and why?
Royal Aura (Authors Uplifting Royal Artists) got its name because saying aura is really cool, but also to show the upcoming artists that will be showcased in our website. We also give our energy and emotion whenever we do art, which is where we got the aura part from.
2. What is Royal Aura’s purpose?
Because STEM takes up a lot of the focus in education, Royal Aura becomes sort of a magical rabbit hole where students of all humanity-based interests, hobbies, and joys can come together and share their passions and be celebrated! This place is meant to support and nurture the creative side in everyone, so don’t be afraid to fall into the rabbit hole and explore this wonderland.
3. What kind of art will be featured on the platform?
The Aura is designed to celebrate all kinds of art existing within the community including literary arts (short stories, poems, and prose), performing arts, digital arts, studio arts, photography, arts and crafts, and culinary arts.
4. When will it be published and where can students find it?
The website is all ready to go! We are just waiting for approval from administration to publish it, so whenever we receive that approval, it will be up and running for everyone to see. We’re so excited to finally be able to showcase both our own work in creating the website and the work of all the Royal artists who have submitted their beautiful pieces. We’ve been working on this site all year, and we’re confident that the wait will have been worth it.
5. Why would you encourage students to share their art on this platform?
Students should share their work on Royal Aura because it is a safe place to share your creativity and unique perspectives without receiving judgment and criticism from others. Additionally, by putting their art on the page, they can avoid the anxiety of having to share it to people in person. Their art being in a digital space makes it accessible to a wide audience and by sharing, they can gain more confidence in their artistic abilities while contributing to the rest of the school’s art community. If a student would like their work to be published, they should bring it to Mr. Bevins in Room 204! There’s no deadline to do so; the Royal Aura is always happy to accept art.
6. What do you hope this platform will accomplish for students?
We hope it makes students feel seen and acknowledged. Students in creative classes put in a lot of time and work, and it should mean more than a letter grade. It’s also a great way for students to share their hobbies and show who they are outside of the classroom. The platform can also be used to inspire other students if they want to get creative and try new classes or hobbies. It’s a great outlet for students to support their peers. We anticipate that this platform encourages students to express themselves and to create more artwork. This website would spotlight artists at Rosary Academy and would allow people to see all of the wonderful art that Royals make.
Rosary is so excited to experience all that Royal Aura has to offer! Don’t forget, if you have some art to share, find Mr. Bevins in room 204 or send it to his Rosary Academy email.
