If you spend just five minutes in the halls of Rosary Academy, you will notice one similarity between every Royal: our water bottles. Water bottles have become our prized posessions. They aren’t just vessels for carrying water, but an emotional support device. While there are some outliers, it seems as though Royals stick to a certain few brands: Hydro Flask, Stanley, Owala, and–for some–just a single-use plastic bottle. The loyalty that these brands bring to the Rosary community is unmatched; Royals have strong opinions on their favorite emotional support water bottles.
Hydro Flasks:
I, Marci, have been loyal to the Hydro Flask brand since I got my bright yellow one in middle school. Thankfully, I got a fresh, white Hydro in high school. Mallory Mojica-Ye ‘24 curated some gorgeous stickers for me to adorn my water bottle with. I would literally die without my Hydro Flask. Whenever I feel anxious or uncomfortable, I find myself subconsciously cradling my Hydro Flask. Plus, there’s no lead in it.
Tahlia Jain ‘26 is a proud owner of a Hydro Flask dupe, the Thermo Flask. She explains, “I love my water bottler because it does its job. It’s not supposed to be my emotional support, it’s supposed to hydrate me. Plus, if I don’t have a super expensive water bottle, I don’t have to worry about it getting super beat up or dirty.”
Stanleys (+Stanley dupes):
Like many other teenage girls, I, Siena, have been a victim of the Stanley Quencher epidemic. The cute and functional build of this water bottle contributes to its popularity. The slimmer bottom makes it easier to fit in most cup holders, and the handle is super great for carrying the water bottle around. It really is the best water bottle on the market. My Stanley Quencher has been with me through a lot of events in my life, and I never leave the house without it.
Izzy Walker ‘24 raves about her Stanley dupe, “I love my Reduce cup, the Stanley dupe, because it was way way way cheaper than the regular stanleys but it still does the same thing. I also like my straw coverings because they add a bit of personality to my cup.”
DimiAna Daskalakis ‘24 expresses her love for one of the newer Stanley dupes, “I have the Hydro Flask Tumbler and I love the silicone straw. It is the best water bottle ever!”
Owalas:
Owalas have recently gained a growing fan base. They are slim water bottles that allow the consumer to drink water in multiple ways while looking like a koala when the cap is open on the bottle!
Mallory explains her attachment to her Owala bottle, “Often I go to sleep with my Owala in my bed. I can’t tell if it is because it is a replacement for a plushie, or because of its no spill, leak-proof feature. My Owala has a handle, it cools, and it is by far the cutest water bottle out there. If you ever see a cute water bottle with perfectly curated stickers and a banana plushie on it, know that it is mine!”
Marissa Carbajal ‘24 shares her love for her water bottle, “My Owala is my comfort water bottle. It’s versatile as well, and I really like that I can sip and chug my water. I am an avid ice cruncher so I like that I can crunch away when I want to. With my Owala, I feel like I do drink more water because I am sipping and I like that it has a lock function because I am an extreme klutz who will spill anything and everything.”
Single-use plastic:
Resident environmentalist Sara Garcia ‘24 stands against single-use plastic water bottles, “I strongly support multi-use bottles because I think they prevent pollution of microplastics in the ocean. Also, they are cute and customizable!”
So Royals, whether you use a Stanley, Hydro Flask, Owala, or a single-use plastic water bottle, everyone has their own kind of emotional support water bottle. Remember to stay hydrated as it starts to heat up!
