Happy Red and Gold weekend, Royals! In honor of this joyous occasion, we wanted to ask girls on Red and Gold what they thought about their formations in their drills. No matter where someone is in a drill, everyone is important for Red and Gold, and this performance couldn’t be put on without each and every girl.
Lauren Marvray ‘26 gives us her positive opinions about being in the back row in her drill: “I’m on Gold in Sammy’s drill, and I’m in the back row. I think it adds some dimension to the whole drill. I love our drill so much; it’s been so fun just learning and dancing with my friends, and I’m so excited for the performances.”
Two girls from senior Lily Curtis’ drill shared what they think about their formation in their drill. First up is Jaclyn Gonzalez ‘26: “It’s been so much fun during FLEX. It’s fun being on a different team this year and being with people. I don’t really care that I’m near the back of our drill; I know that all the work put in by everyone on both teams will make two overall amazing shows this year.” It’s so fun seeing people excited for Red and Gold because the energy is what drives each team.
Another sophomore, Melina Gonzalez, says, ” I am in Lily Curtis’ drill, and I really love it because it isn’t too difficult for me, especially since I have two left feet. I am also doing a few stunts, so that’s pretty great because I’m helping make the dance better without my dancing skills. I’m super excited for Red and Gold because it’s going to be so much fun to perform in my costume, and I can’t wait to see everyone else perform and for RED to win.”
Sophomore Addison Gutierrez explains her love for her drill and the cool formations: “I move around in formations a lot in my drill, but no matter where I am, I’m having so much fun. I am so excited for everyone to see Gold’s performance on stage. Remember to smile no matter where you are. Go Gold!”
A friendly reminder, no matter where you are in your dance or drill, smile so big and bring the energy. There are only four performances, so give them your all! This weekend is going to be so fun and memorable, so the more you get into Red and Gold, the better it is going to be. We’re so excited to see everyone this weekend. Go Red! Go Gold!
