The other day, I was reflecting on the past six weeks of Flex and all the fun memories my team has made so far. The other drill captains and I decided we wanted to write a heartfelt little letter to all the girls on our drills before Red and Gold season comes to an end. So, if you’re on drill, get ready to shed a tear or two.
Dear Lily’s drill girls:
Thank you for everything in the past few weeks, from catching onto choreography quickly, smiling super big, being patient with my poor explaining skills, and giving the routine your best efforts so that I can sleep peacefully at night. I was lucky to get such a fun group of girls who make me laugh at Flex every day. I am so excited to leave Red and Gold with 25 new besties. Most of all, I literally cannot wait to spend performance weekend with all of you and hopefully make your Red and Gold experience a great one. Let’s give this performance our all and have fun while doing so. Xoxo, Lily. GO RED!
Dear Jacee’s drill girls:
I am truly just so so proud of all 29 girls on my drill! They worked so hard to make everything look so good. I couldn’t be happier with the group of kind, hardworking, and determined girls I received. Each day they showed up ready to work and improve which was truly phenomenal. I was blessed to meet so many new girls and create friendships that will last a lifetime. Special shoutout to the ones who stunted in my drill. It was all of their first time stunting and they did AMAZING! I hope you all had just as much fun as I did! They made my last Red and Gold so memorable and definitely the best yet! I appreciate every single one of you, GO RED FOREVER! Love, Jacee
Dear Sonoma’s drill girls:
I hope you know that all your hard work is noticed, and it is because of you that I am such a proud captain. The choreography and stunts are flawless, and I am amazed at how well you have done. I love you so much, but you also give me a heart attack every day. At night I sometimes lay awake remembering the time Hannah almost nose-dived into the dirt when we dropped the stunt, or when Roni fell on stage, or even when Anayra slide tackled me into the mud. You guys are MY GIRLS and I’d do anything for you. I showed my dedication to you all just the other day when I went a whole flex period in just my socks because I used my shoes as markers to practice spacing. Soggy socks and all, you are the best drill team I could’ve asked for. All the craziness is worth it because for the 3 minutes, we are all on stage, it feels like a family. I am so excited for this Red and Gold weekend, let’s finish strong. GO RED!!!
Dear Brooke’s drill girls:
I am so beyond proud of you for all that you have accomplished in the past few weeks. You picked up the drill so quickly, put effort into each practice, had the willingness to run it over and over again, all while keeping a smile on your face. I see how hard you work, trust me it doesn’t go unnoticed, and I thank you for that. I may be the captain, but I am nothing without all of you. You helped make my dream a reality, and I am so excited to show everyone how awesome you all look. Remember to have fun out there. XOXO, Brookie
P.S. Just remember, if you’re going to do it, do it right 😉
Jacee, Sonoma, Brooke and I are all so grateful that we got this amazing opportunity. Being drill captains made our last Red and Gold even more special. We can’t wait to see what this weekend has in store!
