The Rosary Cheer Team just returned from our annual Florida trip on Tuesday. We all took a trip out to Orlando, Florida, to compete at UCA’s National High School Cheerleading Championship. Let me tell you how the trip went!
The seniors kicked off the trip by taking a party bus to the airport. Claire Heidelman ’24 explained, “We had a blast in the party bus, listening to music and dancing. It definitely set the tone for the rest of the trip and got us hyped to compete. It also was cheaper than Ubering to the airport.” We were all happy to have saved some money while having a blast.
Eventually, we all landed in Florida and shared a funny moment when all 23 girls on our team got ready in the two available hotel rooms. Bella Florin ’24 laughed while saying, “It was so chaotic. Everyone was squished, talking over each other, sharing products, and struggling to find room to open suitcases.” When everyone was finally ready, we went to Hollywood Studios and enjoyed fun rides and eating good food.
The next day, we woke up early to practice on the famous football field at the All-Star Sports Hotel. For those who are not cheerleaders, this is probably the most iconic place in the cheer world. Practice went well, and the girls especially enjoyed watching other teams from all over the country. After practice, they spent the rest of the day supporting other California teams competing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, returned to the hotel early, and got enough sleep to make up for the time change.
It was finally comp day! We woke up extra early to get in full “comp day glam.” While practicing outside, we accidentally set the white Rosary flag in coffee, so everyone whipped out their Tide To Go pens and got to scrubbing. When it came time to perform, thankfully, the stain on the flag was no longer noticeable. The performance went very well, and our team came out of the competition getting 14th place.
Later that night, we celebrated with a family team dinner. We all dressed in cute outfits and were happy to spend time with our family members, teammates, and some of Rosary’s administration. It was a lovely night for everyone who attended.
The next day, we had practice to prepare for our upcoming competition, USA Nationals, on Friday, January 16, and Saturday, January 17. For the remainder of the trip, we spent time at the Disney World Park and Magic Kingdom. We ate delicious food, including Dole Whip, cream cheese pretzels, slushies, and pickles. Lastly, we packed up all our stuff and traveled back home. I am so thankful for all the memories made and that all our hard work paid off. I am glad that my last Florida trip was a success!
