It’s no secret the Rosary community is full of loving pet owners. Among the army of pet owners on the Rosary campus are members of our beloved faculty and staff. I got the opportunity to ask a few of our faculty members about their favorite four-legged pals.
What does your pet like to do?
Social studies teacher Mrs. LeClair shares that her two-year-old German Shepherd, Moose, has many doggy-hobbies: “Moose’s favorite things to do are play fetch, protect me from enemies (aka the neighborhood children who play in the grass behind our house), and fake injuries/illnesses whenever I go back to school after a break to make me feel bad for leaving him home alone all day.”
Some Royals know Ms. La Bonte’s ‘09 treasured Maltipoo, Biggie, from when she brings him on to work at the Activities Office. She explains Biggie’s favorite activities: “He loves to play fetch. He can play fetch for hours! He also has two baskets full of toys and loves all of them. Every day he will get them all out of the baskets so he can decide which one to play with.”
How does your pet impact your life and/or brighten your day?
Academic counselor Mrs. Sanchez says her dog, Boston Terrier and French Bulldog mix, Auston, sends good vibes: “Auston’s positive energy is contagious, and I love that he motivates my family to go outside for a walk.”
Ms. LaBonte explains that Biggie helps her get some relaxation, “I have gotten to know my neighbors now because we walk each day. It’s a way to decompress from work and destress.”
Mr. Rosetti shares that his dogs, Australian Cattle dog Prince Peanut and 15-year-old mutt Coco Chanel, do more than just impact his life now: “They brighten my day with their innocence. They don’t hold grudges, they’re quick to give love, and they live completely in the moment, never worrying about the past or the future. Peanut has since passed to the heavenly kingdom, but I know he’s there preparing a spot for me. ”
Any other fun facts you’d like the Rosary community to know about them?
History teacher Mrs. Jenkins shares, “I have one dog, a Shih Tzu named Ivan, after Ivan the Terrible, the 16th century Russian Tsar. Sometimes I think I shouldn’t have named him that because he tends to live up to his namesake. He thinks he’s a human which can be super cute and also kind of ridiculous. Either way, I think I will only own Tzus for the rest of my life. When my kids go off to college, I’ll probably have a Shih Tzu army in my house.”
Mrs. LeClair adds, “Moose has traveled across the country by car four times and has been to 11 different states in the process!”
Mrs. Sanchez’s pal, Auston, is actually named after hockey player Auston Matthews.
Mr. Rosetti’s dog, Coco Chanel, has a best friend that is a stuffed llama named “Puffs.”
One thing is for sure, the faculty and staff of Rosary sure love their pets!
