Now that we’ve entered February, the either dreaded or anticipated holiday is upon us–Valentine’s Day. We’ve all watched, read, and heard the same exact love story about couples on Valentine’s Day, but what about those who are single? What are they doing on Valentine’s Day?
Kristin Ruiz ‘26 shares her plans for Valentine’s Day: “Personally, I feel great. I can’t wait to celebrate the Galentine’s version of the holiday with my friends and make fun candy salads while watching rom coms.” We love that idea. For anyone who doesn’t know what Galentine’s is, it is basically Valentine’s, but instead of a significant other, you spend the holiday with friends. Staying in with friends, getting comfy, and watching ridiculously sad movies sounds better then going on a cliche Valentine’s date with someone.
Next, Servite sophomore Jack Gogan shares his feelings about being single on Valentines Day: “I cant wait to share a Valentines Day with nobody this year. But honestly, I’m alright with it. I’ll live, and now its time to lock in before baseball season starts!” We love the positive redirection instead of sitting in the bitterness of being single. Way to go, Jack.
Lastly, Carol Reyna-Jackson ‘26 shares, “Valentine’s Day makes me realize how lonely I am. All the couples that post make me want to start a new playlist on Spotify.” We love the honest because we can all relate to making cringey playlists when we are feeling sad.
Overall, we are excited to see how some Rosary and Servite students are turning Valentine’s Day into a fun holiday. Whether that’s getting quality time with friends, baseball, or Spotify, we are happy to see it.
