The Super Bowl is mainly for the NFL championship but let’s be honest, everyone watches it for the epic halftime shows. These performances are known to have grand stunts and special effects, as it is America’s most-watched televised event. Some of the best halftime shows in the past have been Prince, Lady Gaga, and Michael Jackson. My favorite performance was Coldplay with Beyonce and Bruno Mars. Last year, Rihanna shocked the world with her pregnancy announcement while dancing on a floating platform above the field!
Some Super Bowl halftime show performances that I would love to see are:
- Harry Styles
- Taylor Swift
- Ariana Grande
- Justin Bieber
- Kelly Clarkson
- Dolly Parton
- The Foo Fighters
Senior Ava Perez shares her dream halftime performance: “Owl City recently released a single and is currently touring the U.S. I think it would be exciting to see them take on the Super Bowl halftime. I know no one else is begging for an Owl City halftime, but I am so it better happen. Also, everyone is talking about how 2024 is the new 2014, so it’s only fitting to have one of the most famous bands from the 2010s perform at the Super Bowl.” The nostalgia that this performance would bring would be so great.
Shelby Devoy ‘24 chimes in with her ideal Super Bowl scenario: “I want Taylor Swift to perform because what if the Chiefs are playing? That would be really cute, and I think the world might explode.” For those unaware, Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce is the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Kelce currently holds the NFL record for most yards by reception for a tight end in the playoffs.
Senior Brianna Salazar shares her thoughts on future halftime performances: “I need Pitbull to come back! I know he already did it, but I need to see him again. I need to experience Pitbull. Drake would also be really good!” I totally agree, Pitbull always does a great performance.
Isabella Florin ‘24 gives her thoughts on a future Super Bowl performance: “I think Tate McRae should perform at the Super Bowl. Her music is so hype that it can get anyone dancing. Also, she is a dancer and I feel that she could give such a great performance with both singing and dancing. People have been saying she is the new Britney Spears and I believe it; she is such a pop star singing machine.” Tate McRae would make an outstanding performance! She is definitely the next big thing for pop music.
Hopefully, Usher will do a great job this year at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show. If he doesn’t, then we can always look forward to the delicious snacks at Super Bowl parties!
