It’s that time again. January 1 marks the starts of resolution season, and several students have made New Year’s goals to improve their health, organization skills, school performance, and much more.
First, sophomore Tahlia Jain is going to improve her life at home and at school: “My New Year’s resolution is to stay organized in school and at home. I also want to get up the first time my alarm goes off.” Way to go, Tahlia.
On a similar note, World Language Department Chair Sra. Kappe ’03 explains, “My goal for this year is to declutter my house, my classroom, and any other areas of my life, so that I can be filled with a renewed sense of peace and purpose!”
History teacher Mrs. Jenkins, on the other hand, is taking her resolution in another direction: “My New Year’s resolution is to not rag so much on Gen Z superstars like Timothy Chamamu!” Mrs. Jenkins might have a hard time keeping that one.
Sophomore Emma Aljurdi shares, “My New Year’s resolution is to be a better person. I’m going to reach this goal by trying to be nicer every day.”
Paige Sorensen ‘24 is going to enhance her life this year by improving her parking: “My New Year’s resolution is to not to curb my car when I parallel park.”
Resolutions are little changes that can make a big difference, but everyone knows some resolutions are harder to keep than others. Religion teacher Mr. Rosetti admits that he has not kept his resolution already: “I did tell myself I was going to start going to the gym five days a week, but it’s 10 days into 2024 and I’ve gone to the gym exactly zero times.”
Resolutions or not, Royals across campus are already working hard to make 2024 their best year yet!

Great article… New Year’s resolutions matter … if for nothing to help us acknowledge an area in our lives where we could be better!!
