Rosary Academy Dance Team (RADT) kicked off their season with their first competition this past Saturday at the U.S. Spiritleaders Winter Classic. The dance team was excited to debut their routines for the first time.
While their competition season has just started, RADT’s training began back in July. The dance team practiced throughout the summer to elevate their technique, gain strength, and build endurance in order to be the best dancers possible. In August, the team spent a week learning the choreography for their pom routines. In October, another week was spent learning their jazz routines. From early morning practices before school, many practices over break, and taking extra technique classes, RADT has been working tirelessly to perfect these routines. JV captain, Phia Fletchall ’26, explained, “I am so proud of everyone and their dedication to this team. This was such a positive start to the season and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
This first regional competition had RADT nervous yet excited to perform. Varsity freshman Olivia Perez shared her experience as a newbie on the team, “Competing on a high school dance team is a lot different than what I am used to. I was very nervous to perform at my first comp but was lucky enough to have a supportive team that cheered each other on every step of the way.” The dance team, unlike other sports, only gets two minutes to show off everything they have worked for. This adds a high level of pressure to competition days. Nonetheless, the team killed it at their first competition. These Royals went up against some of the best teams in the area and they were so proud of their results:
Varsity pom – 2nd place
JV pom – 2nd place
Varsity jazz – 3rd place
JV jazz – 2nd place
Senior co-captain Zoe Borowski shared, “This team has put in so much work and I am so proud of how we performed on Saturday. I can’t wait to continue to watch this team grow throughout the season.”
This first competition was just the beginning of what promises to be an incredible journey for the team. There is no doubt the dance team will continue to shine and achieve even greater things in the future. Congrats to RADT on a successful first competition!
