The recent news of Louis Partridge and Olivia Rodrigo’s relationship has left many of us die-hard fans in a whirlwind of emotions. While some celebrate this relationship, others, like ourselves, find the new romance horrible. Alyssa Ramirez ‘24 questions the relationship, saying, “I didn’t even know he broke up with his other girlfriend.” Well, he did, and onto better…I guess.
As devoted fans of Louis Partridge, we have watched his relationship with Olivia Rodrigo unfold, which has triggered extreme amounts of jealousy (since he should be with me). This is likely very familiar to many fans who invest emotionally in the lives of their celebrity crushes–yes, we are talking to all of you Josh Hutcherson girls.
While fully aware of the unrealistic nature of our feelings, the news of Louis Partridge’s relationship with Olivia Rodrigo feels like a personal attack. Although it is hard to say since we do not personally know him, I (Cait) have met Olivia Rodrigo, and let me tell you she does not belong with Louis. Their personalities are far too different, plus he likes hardcore 80s rock music while she is literally a modern-day pop singer. If we’re talking realistically, does he even like her music? And how can Olivia Rodrigo be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t cherish her songs? I wouldn’t take that if I were her.
The fantasy of being with Louis Partridge is, admittedly, an impractical dream, but just in case, I (Cait) did already change my Instagram handle to his last name. But now that he has a new girl, it feels even more impractical since we are not people to break a happy couple up. Kristiana Guerra ‘24 agrees and says, “If they break up, I don’t know if I will be able to listen to that album, but it will definitely be Olivia’s fault. Louis does not have it in him to be mean. I kind of ship them together, but Cait and Louis would for sure be the superior couple.” Seriously though, is it even acceptable for us to DM him anymore? We only had a couple months of him being single too… truly heartbreaking.
Basically, what I’m saying is, we strongly disapprove of Louis Partridge and Olivia Rodrigo’s relationship since we can 100% say they are not a good match. Disclaimer: neither one of the celebrities has confirmed their relationship yet, but c’mon, we have proof of them holding hands. Overall, we vote them a 2/10 celebrity couple and hope they break up soon. They get two points since Louis Partridge is just awesome.
