This past Wednesday, eight of Rosary’s finest athletes took part in a special Signing Day Ceremony celebrating their hard-earned commitment to play collegiate sports. These ladies represented multiple sports with one basketball player, one lacrosse player, one cheerleader, two softball players, and three soccer players.
First to sign was Allison Clarke ’24, who committed to Loyola Marymount University to play Division 1 basketball. When asked about how she felt as she signed the papers, Allison said, “It was a super exciting moment for me because I’ve been working towards it for a very long time, so it actually happening was something that I’ll never forget.”
Next was Leah Gimenez ’24, who signed to play soccer at Cal State University Bakersfield. In addition, she was also joined by her two varsity teammates, Maddie Encinas ’24 and Sherry Diep ’24. Both girls signed to play soccer at their respective schools, Maddie to Baylor University, and Sherry to the University of New Mexico. And, in a true showing of the Rosary sisterhood, the three varsity soccer players were joined and supported by a large group of their fellow teammates, who were all standing right beside them cheering them on.
Katie Meneses ’24 signed to play lacrosse at Missouri Western University. Following Katie was Rosary Cheerleader Claire Heidelman ’24, who committed to Alma College for Cheer & Stunt. Both girls were joined by a plethora of family, friends, and coaches who came to cheer on their successes.
And finally, to round off the event, Rosary Softball teammates and best friends, Brianna Salazar ’24 and Nevaeh Trejo ’24, both signed to American International College to play softball. The girls are both so excited to continue going to school together and play on the same collegiate team!
Best of luck to all of these amazing athletes as they embark on this new adventure. Your Rosary sisters are so proud of you!
