With college looming, many seniors are re-evaluating the financial burden of attending university. Scholarships and loans can be vital tools to help relieve financial stress. There are many resources online that can connect students with various scholarships. Rosary’s counselor Mrs. Sanchez explains the top resources: “Naviance, the institution you are looking at, and websites like Fastweb and Going Merry are worthy possibilities to take a look at.”
Naviance is a website many Rosary students have gotten to know. It can serve many purposes, but one of its hidden uses is its connection to many legitimate scholarships students can apply for. When students log into Naviance, they can find scholarship opportunities through the bar on the top, clicking ‘Colleges,’ and then ‘Scholarships and Money.’ Students can then visit a general scholarships search or college-specific scholarships. The college-specific tab allows students to explore scholarships that their colleges of interest offer, since most universities give out scholarships to students along with their acceptance letter.
There are many additional websites out there that offer connections to scholarships. Mrs. Sanchez provided a list of legitimate websites that allow students to browse scholarships they are eligible for. These include:
There are also many other websites out there that have different benefits. For example, Niche.com offers a lot of “no- essay” scholarships, making the process easier and faster to apply. Bold.org allows students to make a profile by filling out their GPA, activities, majors of interests, etc. This allows students to apply to scholarships with one click, as the website sends the pre-made profile as an application for the scholarship of choice.
The last resource seniors can utilize is Rosary’s “Royal Review,” the school’s weekly email chain, which occasionally posts scholarships that students are more likely to be eligible for. Local area scholarships can also be found at various places of work like Elks Lodge, Rotary clubs, and women’s clubs.
As you can see, there are many places where students can find and connect with mass amounts of scholarships. The college process is hard enough, so hopefully this article helps ease the financial burden.
