Lately, rumors have been stirring in the news and on social media about women being drafted in the military. Those who serve in the military are heroes, but they are also people, and all people share something in common: they have questions. If Royals were drafted, there’s no doubt there would be many questions. Here are just a few our students voiced:
Who gets aux in the tank? Junior Abigail Zabala expresses, “I would definitely need some Taylor Swift to shake the nerves away.” Some good tunes are vital for those serving the country!
Can DoorDash still deliver to the base? Military food might not be 5 star cuisine, and the Army definitely won’t always offer chicken nuggets as a meal option. Senior Lily Curtis explains, “I couldn’t go more than a week without some Bruxie tenders.” Hopefully dashers exist around the base for Lily’s sake.
Are bathroom buddies still a thing? Everyone knows the fear that comes with going to the bathroom alone in a new environment. Nicole Elliott ’24 states, “I can’t even imagine trying to find a bathroom all on my own. I need my partner Lily to play Lizzo and complete the journey with me.”
When there’s down time, who would capture the fun moments? Would filters be allowed? Junior Sophia Aquino says, “I am the designated digital camera friend so I will for sure take pics for everyone. I need some new posts for my insta anyways.”
How much is the Lululemon military discount? This would be the Royals’ favorite reward for their service. Jillian DeVega ’25 adds, “I can only use the military discount when I am with my dad, but now I can shop at Lululemon whenever I want. If I always use the discount, I am basically getting some things for free.” That sounds like a win for Lululemon obsessed Royals.
What is military time? Royals are used to handling a time schedule that feels crazy, but junior Roni Mercado argues, “I can barely read a clock on the wall; there is no way I’m learning a whole other way to tell time.” Roni makes a good point here: if Royals are being shipped off from the Academy, they should be able to leave behind the complex time schedule.
Although there are many more questions regarding the details of being drafted, there is no doubt that the Royals would complete their military service faithfully and with class.
While this article was meant to make people smile, in all seriousness, we want to say thank you to those who serve in our military branches. Your selfless service keeps our country strong, and your sacrifice is never lost on us.
